Welcome to my journal. Glad you've come. Have a chair, sit down, enjoy the scenery. I've tried not to be too difficult in my requests, but it's hard to tell sometimes.
I'm very easy to write for, I promise. I like canon and backstory/future fic (especially the weird obscure bits, as you can tell by my requests), snark and witty banter, capers and proper adventures and characterization pieces. I'd rather not have anything above PG-13 (horror or smut)- though I don't mind shipping (het/femslash/slash are all fine, incestuous pairings, not so much), I'm not really in this for the smut and I'd prefer that all of the characters stayed alive. As you may guess by my choice of fandoms and characters, I am fond of cheesy plots, snark and witty banter, and amazing adventures (and apparently, cryptocanons and fake band rpf). Feel free to take advantage of this.
Beta-readers are your friends - please do check for grammar, spelling and scientific accuracy (as far as you can). Note that for the Jasper Dash series, scientific accuracy should only be as accurate as one would expect of a 50s/60s sf series for kids.
Fandoms under the cut are Patsy Walker, Johnny Chess and the Starjumpers (fictional band), Big Time Rush (fictional band), Nothing On, Love of Chair, and Jasper Dash: Boy Technonaut
Patsy Walker Comics (fictional comics)
Patsy Walker, Nancy Brown, Robert "Buzz" Baxter, Hedy Wolfe
In J.M. DeMatteis' run on the Defenders, it's established that Patsy Walker's mom was a comic book writer who wrote comics about her. However, these cannot be the comics that exist in our world because even 30 years ago the timelines don't work. It couldn't have existed any earlier than the 1990s, so at the very least consider the comic in the light of what was going on in comic book history during that time. (Did Rob Liefield draw her? Is she that universe's Archie?" What would the comic look like in the modern era?)
Feel free to riff on the comics as they existed in our world but I'd like something that might exist in the Marvel universe. Fanfic/fanwork/flame wars, etc. Maybe there was a reboot. Maybe there was a tv series or a cartoon. Maybe some Marvel hero(ine) is a closet fan. Ship whomever you want. I'm more a fan of Hedy as worst enemy than best enemy, but that's no reason not to pair them up. Or maybe it's Patsy & Nan? Is there merchandizing? Does We Love Fine sell tshirts? Memes? Prospect of a movie? It's all good.
I have this long term adoration for Patsy Walker, who I first encountered in J.M. DeMatteis' Defenders run, before going back to collect many of the romance comics she featured in. While it was cute that he retconned the romance comics into being written by her mother, the timeline doesn't work now if it ever did. So pretend you're a fan of the comics as they appeared in the Marvel universe. Are you sad that they haven't been collected in graphic novel form? Are you excited that she's getting a reboot or a movie? What does the Patsy Walker fandom look like in the Marvel universe. Since the comics were ostensibly RPF that Mrs. Walker wrote about Patsy and her friends, feel free to riff on that side of it if you prefer. For example, did Gidget Goes to Hell awake new interest in the Patsy Walker franchise?
Johnny Chess and the Starjumpers (fictional band)
Johnny Chess, Tegan Jovanka, Kel (Star Jumpers), Marty (Star Jumpers)
Fake Band RPF
Very obscure extended Doctor Who universe canon/fanon here. Johnny Chess was born John Aloysius Gordon Chesterton (son of Ian and Barbara) and was in a relationship in/was married to Tegan Jovanka. (The lines are very blurry here, and I don't recall if this was ever made explicit in canon.)
Fake Band RPF is all I ask for. Ship him with Tegan or one or all of his band members. Why/how did they get together/break up? Did it make the gossip columns? Who's a fan? What are the favored relationships?
Extra points for Fitz Kreiner. Feel free to cross this over with the Big Time Rush prompt (though I may be the only person who knows both fandoms).</em>
I ship Johnny & Tegan, but you don't have to. I'm mostly interested in a look at the band's fandom in the Doctor Who universe. There really isn't much canon here (Johnny only appears in about two or three scenes total in the various Doctor Who novels, and the only reason I know the names of the other Starjumpers is from a throwaway line in one of the books). If you look hard enough on the interwebs you can find the original fanfic written by one of the book authors (but I don't recommend it - it's painfully bad).
Big Time Rush (fictional band)
Kendall Knight, James Diamond, Logan Mitchell, Carlos Garcia
Fake Band RPF
This one is tricky because there is existing canon. But what I'd like here is fake band rpf. Assume the show shows us the reality. What is fangirl (or fanboy or fanperson) X writing about them on AO3? How is the band seen from outside the bubble that we're in when we watch the show? Ships, tumblr, etc.?
Feel free to cross this over with my other fake band rpf request, if you know it.
I came to the band through the Nickelodeon tv show of the same name which I adore to pieces, but I never thought I'd be asking for fanfic until this ficathon. The prompt says it all. We're a part of their journey to stardom, so we don't really see how they're viewed by the fans. Forget what you know about their lives at the Palm Woods, and view them as fans from the outside. Who are you shipping? What do you think they do in their spare time? What's under Carlos' helmet?
Mrs. Clackett, Vicki (Nothing On), Philip Brent, Flavia Brent, Burglar(Nothing On)
Nothing terribly complex here. I just always get annoyed that we never see the whole play. Fanfic of the play would be preferable to actor RPF.
We see bits of the play in Noises Off, mostly from backstage, but we never get the entire thing. Is it a long-term hit (similar to Cats or Les Mis)? What do people write for Yuletide when they get assigned this play?
Love of Chair
The Chair (Love of Chair), The Narrator (Love of Chair), The Boy (Love of Chair), Naomi (Love of Chair)
You know the drill. Love of Chair is a real tv show. What fic is written about the mysterious Naomi? Or perhaps write me chairpr0n or a lovely curtain fic about reupholstery.
My favorite sketch from the early days of Electric Company, though Fargo North, Decoder runs a close second.) There really isn't much else to say there, except "And what about Naomi?"
Jasper Dash: Boy Technonaut (fictional series)
Jasper Dash is a fifties style kids sf series hero (like Tom Swift or Tom Corbett or Lucky Starr). You could write me a crossover with one of the other series mentioned in Pals in Peril or a straightforward fanfic, or cross him over with that other 50s style pastiche, Cosmo McNaught (from the Trixie Belden series book 27, The Ghostly Galleon). (I think I've started to ship Jasper/Cosmo. Send help.)
Anyway fanfic's good. Or a scholarly article about fictional sf series of the past.
Jasper Dash is one of the stars of the Pals in Peril series by M.T. Anderson (which has gone through a few name changes over the years). The conceit is that these three kids (one from a goosebumps style series, one from a sf series, and an ordinary girl) are friends and have adventures together. Over the course of the series, they run into other pastiches of series book heroes and heroines. But I don't want that. I want straight-forward sf-adventure fanfic about Jasper Dash's adventures inventing etc. Or as I said, some sort of scholarly work or a bit from a website dedicated to the Jasper Dash series would be good too.
