Welcome to my journal. Glad you've come. Have a chair, sit down, enjoy the scenery. I fear my fandoms are a bit scattered so you're not likely to match me on more than one, but at least this year none of my fandoms are completely impossible to find.
I'm very easy to write for, I promise. I like canon, snark and witty banter, capers and proper adventures, characterization pieces, crossovers. I'd rather not have anything above PG-13 - though I don't mind shipping (het/femslash/slash are all fine, incestuous pairings, not so much), I'm not really in this for the smut and I'd prefer that all of the characters stayed alive. Two of my book series are very much period pieces and that is part of what I like about them. As you may guess by my choice of fandoms, I am fond of cheesy plots, occasionally didactic story lines and yarn pr0n (sometimes). Feel free to take advantage of this.
Beta-readers are your friends - please do check for grammar, spelling and scientific accuracy (as far as you can). Historical accuracy too - if you're doing an older fandom contemporaneous to the series, please don't assume they have access to the same technology we do now.
I've suggested some crossovers I'd like to see below, but feel free to disregard those. Optional crossovers are optional. Optional details are optional too, for that matter.
Parrish & Jordan Series by Janet Lambert - I hesitate to call this a teen romance series, though there is romance in it. It's more like a sprawling military family saga. The characters grow up, marry, start families and fade into the background as their younger sisters or cousins or children take center stage. The Parrish and the Jordan series start off separate, and then crossover, with some intermarriage between the two families along the way. I tend to ship the canon pairings in this series, especially Penny/Josh and Susan/Bobby. And this seems like a good place to include my prompt.
I'm going with worldbuilding here. Mostly because I can't decide. Give me Penny on the stage or Tippy and her boyfriends. Fix-it fic for the whole Alice and Jon thing (no spoilers here). Susan and Bobby arguing and making up. Or you could do a crossover or future fic. I don't care with what I end up with here. If you've got a favorite character who isn't one of those four go ahead. I'd be perfectly happy with fic about Gwenn or Parri or the boys' adventures at West Point or whatever. This fandom has absolutely no fic that I've ever been able to find, so I'll be happy with just about anything, with one caveat: my ships tend to be the canon couples, so I'd appreciate if you didn't break anyone up.
These are long out of print, but Image Cascade republished them recently and they're available from their website (link below). Alas, if you decide to go that route, I'm not sure where to suggest you start, as it's very much an ongoing saga, but some possibilities are: Star-Spangled Summer is the first book in the series, and the first of Penny's subseries, but not my favorite, Tippy's tricky because the earlier books are very full of post-War "America is the best" speeches, and the later ones build on relationships formed in the earlier ones. Miss Tippy is the first, but I like Don't Cry Little Girl better. For Alice, Friday's Child is the first and a good place to start. A Dream for Susan is one of my favorites, and it's the beginning of Susan's subseries.
The publisher has a good breakdown of the series and the books are currently on sale.
More about the books.
Kirby's Epic Yarn - Wii game starring Kirby, in which he falls into a world made of Yarn and fabric and teams up with Prince Fluff to defeat Yin Yarn and save both their worlds.
My prompt: Kirby/Prince Fluff. Their epic love is epic, the way they tumble over each other in the cut-scenes. I'd adore something PG and adorable (ship or friendship fic) but I know this prompt just screams fluffball (well, yarnball) pr0n. I'm not going to forbid this, but I don't promise to read it either. Though I might. My one request is that you have fun with this prompt.
There really isn't much to say about this. I don't know why I ended up shipping those two, but I did. This is one place where my preference for PG-13 and under fic is tempered by what I know of Yuletide. I am not promising to read smut written for this prompt, but I've seen what happened with the Care Bears and Moomintrolls, so if you're inspired, go ahead. I'm sure someone will appreciate it (and I'm not saying I won't read it either - if it's clever and well written it might get past my inner squick).

Barney Miller - I grew up watching this show, and living close enough near NYC that there is strong nostalgia here. Also witty writing, a diverse and stellar cast and an outlook on certain things that was way ahead of it's time. With the series recently released on DVD, I've been rewatching and it holds up amazingly well (with Rape being one major exception).
If you don't know this fandom: This is a cop sitcom set in the detective room of the 12th Precinct in NYC which aired during the late 70s and early 80s. Mostly they handle petty complaints (though at one point they're reassigned to homicide and not happy about it). Like MASH not all of the plots are played for laughs. Of the cast you're most likely to recognize Ron Glass (Ron Harris) who went on to play Shepard Book in Firefly or Steve Landenberg (Arthur Dietrich) but the entire cast was brilliant.
My prompt: Either a casefic involving the 12th precinct or maybe where are they now or reunion future fic. Maybe Marty and Darryl are still together and are getting married under then new law and the whole gang gets together again for the first time in ages. Or someone's retirement party. Ron's my favorite character, so I'd like him included but beyond that feel free to include any of the regular or reoccuring cast.
That pretty much says it all. The Marty and Darryl thing is something I thought of after noms, so they aren't available and don't feel you need to include them. If you don't know the show but the 12th Precinct sounds familiar, it's because Castle is also set in the 12th Precinct (not that you need to use that information either).
A fansite (Not terribly easy on the eyes, but full of information.)
There are about 20 episodes of the show on Hulu
Eight Days of Luke by Diana Wynne Jones - A short novel, so if you matched me on one of the other fandoms but aren't feeling inspired this would be the one to pick up. Sadly it seems to be out of print in the US, but it's available in the UK (Amazon.co.uk ships to the US) and used and library copies should be readily available.
If you don't know the fandom: It's the story of a boy who is stuck living with relatives who don't want him around. And that's where the similarities to Harry Potter end. David accidentally releases Loki (Luke) from his prison and has to deal with a sudden influx of Norse gods wandering around trying to trap Luke again. It's the closest DWJ ever really gets to the E. Nesbit/Edward Eager style of fantasy, but with NORSE GODS.
My prompt: I'd really like a post book fic about Astrid and David living at or settling in to Alan's house (not that Alan or his family have to appear). Or just the continuation of Luke and David's friendship.
I do ship Astrid/Thor and Luke/Sigyn, but Thor isn't an option so don't feel you have to write either of these couples (though if you wanted to, I'd be happy). I mostly want to see what happens to David and Luke's friendship and/or Astrid and David's life after the story ends.
