So why am I fretting about casting on for the next project?
I'm planning a shawl for my cousin's wedding. I have the yarn (Rowan Kidsilk Haze in Hurricane Navy) and a very good idea of what I want to do (a stole using some of the pattern techniques in the book Gossamer Webs, and yet, I can't bring myself to cast on. Admittedly Orenburg lace is trickier than anything I've done before and the yarn is thinner and more expensive, not to mention notoriously impossible to rip out if you make a mistake.
But still. I want to start this project before I go off for a long weekend. I have a long train trip which would be perfect for knitting, but I don't want to be casting on then. Ideally, I'd like to have at least two repeats of the border done. I don't know if it's going to happen, though.
