Is this thing on? If so, have a meme

1. Your main fandom of the year?

Not sure I had one. Possibly fandom itself.

2. Your favourite film watched this year?

Thor: Rangnarok, Wonder Woman, The Last Jedi, Descendants 2. Not necessarily in that order

3. Your favourite book read this year?

No such thing as a single favorite book. I zoomed through all of Ann Leckie, really enjoyed Convergence by John Scalzi, finally got around to reading the Runaways graphic novels, rediscovered Tamora Pierce with her new novel. The Hate U Give, Piecing it Together, anything and everything by Jason Reynolds. Not Quite Narwhal by Jessie Sima, The Cholent Brigade, the Mango and Bambang series by Polly Faber, the Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens (get the British editions, you'll thank me).

4. Your favourite TV show of the year?

I feel like I lost a lot of my shows and they didn't get replaced. That being said, have a list:
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
The Rachel Maddow Show
The Worst Witch (the new one)
Greenhouse Academy
One Day at a Time
The Brave
We Bare Bears

5. Your favourite online fandom community of the year?

I bounce around a lot. Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and a shout-out to the AO3 and Yuletide workgroups.

6. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

I finally understand the lure of the Rachel Maddow show.

7. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

Two of my local cons won't be held in 2018

8. Your TV boyfriend of the year?

Ice Bear from We Bare Bears

9. Your TV girlfriend of the year?

Chloe from We Bare Bears

10. Your biggest squee moment of the year?

There have been plenty but right now, I'd have to say the Wrinkle in Time trailer.

11. The most missed of your old fandoms?

Sarah Jane Smith

12. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?

My unread books are threatening to fall over and crush me. There are 3-4 movies in theatres that I still haven't seen and I need to clean out my DVR. Ask me when I've made a dent in that.

13. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?

A Wrinkle in Time, Black Panther, the next Murder Most Unladylike, the Thirteenth Doctor. Probably other things I'm forgetting.

Dear Yuletide Writer

Request 1 by hhertzof
We Bare Bears (TV)

I love all the bears equally so I'd really like ensemble slice-of-life stories. Alternately feel free to pick a random AU or have them meet some famous bears of history/literature/etc.

I love the bears best when they're playing off each other (and Chloe the awesome). I don't know what else to say but moar #bearstack please.

Request 2 by hhertzof
Milo Murphy's Law
Milo Murphy

I'm happy with just about anything here as long as Milo's in the center of things being his usual calm self. Time travel hijinks? Bring on Cavendish and Dakota. Pre-show backstory with either Sara or Melissa? Go for it. Zack's past coming back to haunt him again? Why not? Or maybe a school story or just a wild adventure, or a glimpse of that Phineas & Ferb crossover they keep teasing us with.

Request 3 by hhertzof
Wynd Family Series - Stephen Krensky

I'd love to see the Wynds meet another magical family. Crossovers welcome or just expand on the magic in their world.

Alison, Edward, Jamie, Jennifer and Perry are the kids in a family with hereditary magical powers. The books are light magical adventures/mysteries in which the kids have to band together to save the day. I just love the entire family so I'd love to see either an ensemble adventure or focus on any member or members of the family.

The series is out-of-print but cheap used copies are available and all three books are available on Amazon Kindle.

Request 4 by hhertzof
My Two Dads
Nicole Bradford, Michael Taylor, Joey Harris

Yes, I ship it. Michael/Joey, I mean. I'd love to see either Nicole playing matchmaker or maybe having a bet with the Judge about how long it would take them to figure it out. Or any other plot in tone with the series.

On the off chance that you don't ship it, I'd be perfectly happy with a sitcom-esque plot with Nicole at the center. I'd appreciate it if you avoided some of the 80s gender stereotyping (especially relationship-wise) of the original, and keep it in tone with the original intended audience, but otherwise go wild.

Request 5 by hhertzof
Kitty Telefair Series - Florence Stevenson
Kitty Telefair

A long out-of-print "gothic" series - 1970s urban fantasy before it was called that. Kitty is a member of a family of occultists, and does occasional stints on a television talk show. Mostly though, she deals with occult menaces of various sorts.

This is my long-shot fandom but I'd be happy with another case set in the 70s, what happened to her after the series, or maybe a time travel adventure to the present.

[community profile] yuletide_admin is revving up again. The brainstorming posts are up and nominations will start Friday, 8th September.

I'm on pillowfort.io as hhertzof, if anyone else has made it over there.

In other assorted news: Pokemon Go has eaten my life. I just got back from visiting my parents in New Mexico. I'm not feeling very fannish (in the fic writing sense) about anything specific at the moment, but I've been writing for fic exchanges. I've got some cosplay projects that I'm hoping to use for breaks (when I'm not pokehunting) during the vetting of Yuletide noms. The buns are still cute.

Thirteenth Doctor

Thirteenth Doctor Announcement

I wasn't one of the people who was turned off by Moffat (I find Chibnall more worrying), but then when the new series started his was the name I recognized due to a deep and abiding love of Press Gang. But I am so here for this, and hoping so hard that Chibnall doesn't mess it up.

Housekeeping post

Reading a lot, failing to comment on anything or post (mostly playing Pokemon Go obsessively, watching a ton of news, and mindlessly reblogging things on tumblr). Now that Dreamwidth seems to be picking up a bit, I am going to try to post more.

I've tentatively accepted the terms of service on LJ, mostly because I don't have the brainpower to deal with the rp journals and comms I'm responsible for right now. For those of you who are moving/have moved, I'm on Dreamwidth as [personal profile] evil_plotbunny. Other places I can be found include twitter (intermittantly), tumblr, ravelry, and goodreads (all as hhertzof).

Current plan is to run [community profile] fic_corner this year, either a schedule will be posted the last week of May or an announcement that I'm skipping a year. The current political situation, the weird weather patterns, and work stress have made my spoon level much more variable than it had been.

I shall end this post with a bunny picture, because that is how I roll.
